John D. Battey

Construction Engineer

John Battey is a talented Construction Engineer with the ability to oversee multiple projects and manage engineering aspects. He has more than 17 years of experience in construction project engineering.

Currently, he provides support to dsi’s federal projects at GSA Chicago and the United States Air Force Grissom Air Reserve Base. Coordination of the Fire Alarm Upgrade for GSA at Chicago’s John C. Kluczynski Building and Loop Post Office is a 41-floor fire alarm and electrical system renovation to bring the buildings to a fully current and operating life safety system. At Grissom, he is assisting with the replacement of active military taxiways and hammerhead. Both projects require extensive coordination to ensure that the operating facilities are not disrupted during construction. Additionally, his is managing all of the submittals, schedules, subcontractor work, and client interface on a daily basis.

Before joining dsi, John led the identification and remediation of impacted soils left in place from industrial processes in northern Illinois. In addition, he provided construction oversight for the design and construction of a new village hall for the Village of Mundelein. In this position, he was responsible for reviewing construction documents to ensure they met owner requirements and controlled construction cost. The project was completed four months ahead of schedule and within the guaranteed maximum price.

John has a B. S. in Building Construction from Purdue University, as well as OSHA and CQM-C certifications.
