Our projects are typically institutional buildings, education and training facilities, airfields, recreational areas, and roadways. We have had long-term and extensive experience with schools, governmental buildings, and transportation infrastructure. dsi has participated in most of the largest capital programs in the Chicago area over the past 15 years, including the Public Schools Capital Improvement Program ($2.4 billion), O’Hare Modernization Program ($6.6 billion), and Illinois State Toll Highway Expansion ($3 billion).
We have also provided support to projects that build the foundation for planning larger programs, such as the condition assessments for the City Colleges of Chicago, pilot Senior Satellite Centers for Chicago neighborhoods, and assisting the Chicago Department of Transportation in understanding exactly how in-house construction programs execute neighborhood infrastructure improvements and their cost.
Most recently, we have represented the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority as part of the I-90 Rebuilding and Widening ($2.2 billion) project. The Tollway is divided into two segments for construction purposes. dsi is playing a role with the Corridor Construction Manager (CCM) team for the eastern segment of the I-90 Corridor between O’Hare Airport and the Elgin Toll Plaza. This section will be rebuilt and a new lane added to provide three lanes in each direction. In addition, the inside lane and shoulder in both directions will be widened to provide accommodations for future transit opportunities. The Illinois Tollway is also rebuilding several mainline bridges and local road bridges to accommodate the new, wider roadway.
